Smart Guys in Maine

This week there has been a summer camp for financial, academic, and policy wonks at a fishing hole in Maine. When all this political and financial crisis came down, they were all hanging out together and fishing on a beautiful lake. Lucky for us, they were and are still together burning up the brains to figure a way out of this mess.

At last check, they were wonking it up and sending out messages here and there. Middle Eastern markets are already showing signs of aftershock of downgrade, and these guys are on it like white on rice.

As you know, the American economic model is broken, not to mention the political model. We need rational thinkers to apply their energies to solutions and strategies in order to steer us out of this current mess. I'll keep you posted on what I'm hearing Let me know if you've got any tidbits...

Singularity The Movie Coming Soon

The big theory that I have been talking about to some of you is not mine alone. A bunch of other wonky people have been applying themselves to the development of this concept and are coming out with a movie I know a lot of you aren.t big readers or thinkers, and you get sick of my geeky ideas, but maybe you'll watch this and see what I'm talking about. It ties together the ultimate conclusions from all areas of study and discipline into one pristine apex. Very exciting.
