If we are concerned about governmental rights, about majorities oppressing minorities, we really ought to have that concern at every level of government and social influence. People who are affected by having views or identities other than the elevated "norm" would do better to work together, creatively, with open minds, hearts, and dialog. Thus, an attitude of uplifting diversity would emerge as a more useful norm.
